Some of Bedok's very first flats are here: blocks on Bedok South Avenue 1 were completed in 1975, the same year Bedok Jetty became a landing point for Vietnamese refugees after the Fall of Saigon.

The estate has been renewed in stages. Bedok South Horizon added 8 blocks in 2021, and Bedok South Blossoms, launched in May 2023, is due around 2027.

Bedok South MRT on the Thomson–East Coast Line, at Upper East Coast Road and Bedok South Road, is scheduled to open in the second half of 2026.
