About Kembangan
Kembangan grew from Malay kampongs. Building the MRT line here required acquiring Kampong Kembangan and Kampong Pachitan.
Kembangan station was announced in 1982 as "Frankel" and renamed Kembangan in 1983. Its domed roof matches other East West Line stations in the east.
Today the area mixes landed homes along Jalan Kembangan and the Lengkong roads with condos such as Starville and Vacanza @ East, and HDB blocks at Lengkong Tiga (1988).
