What to expect by block age

  • 1970s to mid-1980s: original parquet is common. Expect worn varnish, gaps and some loose pieces; most can be restored.
  • Mid-1980s to 1999: bedroom parquet usually sanded once or twice at most, with plenty of timber left.
  • 2000s onwards: flooring is usually owner-installed. We check whether it is solid, engineered, laminate or vinyl before quoting.
